We cut back the juniper tree into a perfect circle (diameter of 170 meters) creating both a fire-line and opening space for grassland praire land. From above, the formation looks undeniably intentional.
In the fall we seeded nearly 50 species of native flora in the cleared areas and rescued the existing Live and Post oak trees. On my 25th birthday, I planted 4 thousand seeds of my favorite tree, the Texas Mountain Laurel, along the perimeter of the circle. My vision was a bloom, in which the trees violet flowers make a ring visible from the sky. However, the tree grows extremely slowly, and full ecological restoration takes decades. I’ve volunteered to continue managing this land till the next Total Eclipse which will be in 2045. this land transformation occurs in two parts: the first taking place in 2025, the second, 20 years later in 2045.
